Based on real life experience with my driving style. Data change significantly depending on location and weather conditions.

Charging 20->80% in a supercharger can take from 11 to 20 minutes depending on the power of the charger.

Charging from 10->100% can take 35 minutes to one full hour.

My preferred routine for long motorway trips is:

  • I fully charge at home before leaving
  • I drive about 300 km to about 15% of charge
  • I then continue with 2-hours cycles
    • 1h45 min drive 80->20% for about 225 km,
    • 15min charge 20->80% (coffee break, short walk, …)

I find this routine very balanced as frequent breakes allows to stretch and recover.

Driving at 120 km/h average on motorway only, this approach results in the following time

DistanceTimeReal avg speed
incl. charge time
300 km 2h 30m120 km/h
500 km4h 30m111 km/h
700 km6h 30m108 km/h
900 km8h 30m106 km/h
The table above does not consider traffic congestions, construction works and other events that could further slow down the trip. The calculation assumes that the car can get at destination between 10% and 20% and will be recharged at destination
